After graduating from Kenneth Sheller's Cosmetology School in Columbia, South Carolina, she moved to Atlanta for the opportunity to begin her cosmetology career. Equipped with knowledge, support and training from her mentor Derek J, she began perfecting her craft with unique and innovative works that have been featured on television, film, and print.

In 2007, Shonda, became a platform artist for several hair companies, and motivational speaker for cosmetology schools all across the country. With all that she has accomplished, she continues to regularly attend trades shows and educational seminars.   She explains, “I love to learn about new products and techniques, I think we limit ourselves when we become content with what we {think} we already know, I will never stop educating myself”.   Her education and training sheet include training courses with: Soft Sheen Carson, Nick Arrojo, and her proudest accomplishment, Vidal Sassoon in Europe.

Her passion for learning has inspired her to educate other novice stylist and students, helping them perfect their craft. The Novice Café , an international, interactive online student training center will launch in the fall of 2008. This is only the beginning, she has plans to open her first salon in 2010.
